I do storytelling for children along with my partner in both English and Mandarin. Our stories are primarily Asian folktales such as "Badung" (about an Indonesian boy who inherits immense strength) and "Fox Sisters" (about a pair of magical fox sisters in China who learn the importance of living in harmony). Stories are usually told in sets of 30min, 45min and 60min. All stories have a message and there are values to be learnt from these stories.

As both my partner and I come from theatre backgrounds, we are fond of using props and physical movements to help the children visualise and experience the story better. We also like to include the children's participation in our stories. We have a "treasure box" that will churn out different objects (e.g. hats, masks) to make the children become characters in our stories. For bigger crowds, for example, performances held in a school hall, we will make use of powerpoints and multimedia to better reach out to all parties.

Children and Family.
